Mountain Mike’s Pizza is thrilled to be included on QSR Magazine’s “Next Up” list. We have secured the #6 spot among the 42 quick-service-restaurant brands that best promise to significantly expand their market share throughout 2021 and beyond—growing in consumer popularity, sales, new franchises and new territories.
WHAT IS QSR?
For those unfamiliar with QSR, the letters stand for “Quick Service Restaurant,” and QSR is the premier business-to-business publication in the limited-service restaurant industry, which comprises fast food restaurants, fast-casual diners, snack shops/coffee shops—and pizza restaurants. The “Next Up” list is a supplement to the periodical’s QSR 50 annual report that highlights the top 50 limited-service restaurant brands in America (many of which also have a worldwide presence) by sales volume.
Coming in sixth at $206 million in sales from just 228 franchises in 2020, Mountain Mike’s was also the highest-ranking pizza restaurant on the “Next Up” list, just ahead of Donatos which stopped at $204 million.
STILL GROWING
Founded in 1978, Mountain Mike’s has a forty-plus-year history of providing Californians with great food and family-friendly dining. We stand out for fresh ingredients (notably our trademark Crispy, Curly Pepperoni, which comes out of the oven in a “teacup” shape unique to genuine, highest-quality pepperoni) and community involvement (all the local sports teams know us—and check out our fundraising options for schools, clubs and nonprofits). For a while we were a best-kept secret in the pizza world, but now we’re expanding rapidly into new territory, with locations throughout California and into Oregon, Nevada and Utah. Despite the hit that restaurants everywhere took during the 2020–2021 COVID shutdowns, we increased our presence by 6 percent in 2020 (from 215 to 228 franchises) and are now developing in 8 western states, as we continue our accelerated growth to add new locations in new markets across the U.S.
