Restaurant Business Top 500 Chains ranked our California-based pizza franchise in the top half of all restaurant chains

Mountain Mike’s was included once again in the annual Restaurant Business Top 500 Chain Report, with a position in the upper half of the rankings that’s 17 spots higher over last year. In addition, our California-based pizza franchise was ranked at No. 17 among the Largest Pizza Chains in the U.S., with 2019 systemwide sales of $181,000,000.

The Restaurant Business rankings for Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report and Largest Pizza Chains were compiled in partnership with Technomic. The Top 500 evaluates the largest restaurant concepts, both franchised and non, based on 2019 data. Technomic and the trade magazine used “public company financial filings, direct operator surveying, franchise disclosure documents and proprietary valuation algorithms.”<

Our 219-unit franchise, located mostly in our founding state of California, was ranked earlier this year in the prestigious Entrepreneur Franchise 500, where we were No. 4 among pizza franchises and No. 142 overall.

Why Mountain Mike’s is climbing in the rankings

Mountain Mike’s has been in business for over 40 years and continues to rise in the $46 billion pizza industry. The company is beloved in The Golden State, where we’ve thrived by establishing our franchises in close-knit communities that value our higher-quality product and exceptional customer experience.

A lot of our customers’ favorite aspects about Mountain Mike’s — party rooms, big-screen TVs so grownups can watch the game while kids play our arcade games — had to be put in hibernation as restaurants everywhere had to shut down for a while, but we found other ways to continue serving “Pizza the way it oughta be®” so our fans didn’t have to miss a beat (or their favorite Mountain Mike’s pizza).

Our restaurants have been able to pivot quickly during the coronavirus because, as a pizza franchise, we’re already ahead of the curve when it comes to delivery and carryout. We were able to quickly pivot our in-house delivery to a contactless delivery system complete with tamper-proof quality seals, along with adding incremental sales through third-party delivery partnerships.

And of course, we have pledged to provide strong, responsive support to our franchisees during the pandemic, offering discounts on our royalty and marketing fees and helping facilitate loan relief programs.

We are very optimistic about our future and are continuing to open new locations and seek strong partnerships with qualified candidates.
