Our first franchise location in Eureka, California, opened strong in spite of shelter-in-place orders, proving pizza has staying power

Maybe it’s not fair to measure the strength of a company based on whether they can continue to grow even amid a global pandemic, but that’s what we’re doing anyway. We just opened a new location in Eureka, California, our first in that town, and we did it in spite of shelter-in-place orders.

Although we couldn’t open our dining room just yet, we knew both new customers and loyal brand fans would want to indulge in our legendary pizza through contactless delivery or curbside pickup.

“Despite our unusual circumstances, we are proud to begin serving Mountain Mike’s signature pizzas to the Eureka community in the safest way possible,” says Sonu Chandi, Mountain Mike’s franchise owner and President of Chandi Hospitality. “We’re not new to delivery and carry-out — this is what we’ve been doing for over 40 years — but we have added additional levels of safety and convenience like tamper-proof packaging, contactless delivery and curbside pickup to give our new guests the peace of mind they deserve.”

How to start a pizza franchise in a pandemic

Chandi is not new to the pizza industry. He already owns 13 franchises with Mountain Mike’s, so he decided to forge ahead with his plans to open the Eureka location.

“We are looking forward to the day we can welcome the community into our restaurant to fully experience what Mountain Mike’s is all about,” he says, “but in the meantime, we are happy that Eureka residents can still enjoy our legendary pizza in the comfort of their own homes.”

The 3,250-square-foot restaurant features an updated restaurant design, including 19 beers and wines on tap. When dining rooms are allowed to re-open, guests can enjoy big-screen TVs throughout, along with a fully dedicated arcade room for the kids. It will be the perfect place for sports teams, family gatherings, and group fundraising events alike.

Meanwhile, the Eureka location, like our other franchises, is offering contactless delivery and curbside pickup along with third-party delivery. It is located at 3144 Broadway Street in the Victoria Place shopping center and is open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
